A 41 year-old man, Abdulfatai Olagunju has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing a neighbor’s ram intended to be slaughtered for Salah celebration in Lagos.
Authoritative source revealed that the suspect who allegedly stole the ram at night at Kedeibu Estate in Ijegun area of Lagos State was arrested by the Police from Isheri Oshun division when the real owner report the matter at the station.
It was gathered that the owner of the ram, Mr Murphy Chinedu raised alarm to his neighbours when he returned home and discovered that the ram was missing.
While searching, another neighbor who heard the noise of the ram inside the suspect room alerted the searching team to check, which later became true when the forced the door open.
Olagunju however started fighting them with claim that he bought the ram from the market for the sallah celebration.
The matter was reported to the Police who arrested him and recovered the ram to the rightful owner.
When he was detained and interrogated at the station, he eventually confessed to have stolen the ram and intended to be slaughter for sallah celebration.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Isolo magistrate Court for stealing.
When he pleaded not guilty to the charge, the prosecutor, Inspector Solomon asked the court to adjourn the case for a later date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.I. Williams however granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum, who must show evidence means of livelihood.
The matter was adjourned till 24th August, 2022 for mention, while the defendant will remain in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
