The States Chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the country have disowned party members who suspended its National Chairman, Dr Olu Agunloye for alleged anti-party activities and disregard for the party’s constitution.
They described them as desperados and should be disregarded by party members and Nigerians.
Recall that the Ondo State Chairman of the party and Secretary, Hon Stephen Adewale and Bola Aina had described those behind the alleged suspension as ” reckless and irresponsible politicians who places their selfish agenda above the party’s interest.
Adewale and Aina in a statement in Akure said that ” it was a huge joke taken too far by political rascals.
To buttress this, the party’s Chairmen, under the auspices of States Chairmen of SDP in Nigeria, said that ” The NWC is focused and do not have time for such shenanigans and desperados.
This was contained in a statement made available to Vanguard in Akure, signed by the Chairman of the forum, Abubakar Dogara, Secretary, Hon Wellington Odiong, Amb Oke Idawene, Leader of the Forum and Hon Stephen AdewaleOndo State Chairman and member of the Forum.
The statement reads “Our attention was drawn to a childish publication credited to the ONDO STATE chapter of our great party the SDP on the suspension of our National Chairman Dr Olu Agunloye by some attention seekers. The NWC is focused and does not have time for such shenanigans and desperados.
“Moreover, SDP has important activities to attend to, regarding strengthening the party such as the implementation of our last NEC resolutions, sales of nomination forms to Aspirants and Congresses all in line with the Electoral Act, INEC guidelines and the party constitution.
“The legitimate members of the party and the general public are advised to disregard the publication in question.
” The people who made such statements are not members of our great party, not to talk of being officials of the SDP.
“They are rascals hired to distract the party as it’s so glaring that Nigerians have chosen SDP as an alternative political party to vote for in the next general elections.
“The official Social Democratic Party SDP is intact and very law-abiding. The constitution of the party 2018 as amended has its provisions on the processes of suspension and or expulsion of SDP financial and legitimate members from the party. And from the book of records available to the party, those miscreants are no more members of the SDP if ever been.
It added that ” The newly elected officials of the party in Ondo State are directed to continue with the good work of mobilizing people into the party and should not be distracted.
