A Criminal Court sitting in Benin City has remanded three persons for two weeks in a Benin Correctional Centre over the invasion and destruction of Christ Embassy Church in Benin City, Edo State.
The three persons are, Mr. Sunny Ibude, 50; Monday Osabuohien, 42 and Godspower Igbinosun, 36.
The trio and others now at large, were alleged to have between February 18 to March 10, in a manner likely to cause breach of peace, unlawfully entered into the Crusade Ground of Loveworld Ministry, also known as Christ Embassy, Km 10, Benin-Sapele Road, measuring 217,565 hectares covered by Certificate of Occupancy dated January 25, 2010.
Besides, they were also alleged to have unlawfully assaulted one Pastor Godfrey Esiegbe, Chief Superintendent of Police, Clement Aikpokpo and Desmond Apebeen
In Charge with No. B/CO/545M/2022, the three defendants were also accused of being in possession of firearms, attempting to promote native war, willful and unlawful damage of building fence, property of Christ Embassy, valued at N5 million,
The trial judge, Justice Efe Ikponmwen however adjourned the case to March 29 for mention.
