Edo State Governor His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has been commended by the Commissioner of Police, Edo State, CP Philip Ogbadu, for putting up formidable initiatives in securing the waterways in the Three Oil and Gas Producing Local Government Areas in the State.
CP Ogbadu gave the commendations while the Board of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, EDSOGPADEC, led by the Chairman, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, led the Commissioner of Police and other Board Members on an inspection tour of recently procured 4 Nr200HP Armored gunboats and 4 speed boats at the Edo Government House, Benin City and the Marine Police Base which is built on top of Ologbo River and Modern Concrete Pedestrian Jetty with awaiting Lounge at Ologbo, IkpobaOkha Local Government Area of Edo State .
C.P Ogbadu said that with all these facilities, the crime rate in the state will be totally reduced to the barest minimum, while assuring of effective and efficient use for the purpose of achieving the aims and objectives in the State .
Earlier in his remarks, the EDSOGPADEC boss thanked the Commissioner of Police for creating time to inspect the facilities, saying his Board was giving a marching order by Mr. Governor to embark on the projects to secure the waterways in the state is safe.
Osifo, further said that the vision of the Commission is in line with “make Edo Great Again”, MEGA, agenda of Gov. Obaseki in making Edo State an economic and investment hub, stressing that it will boost economic development in the locality.
He added that the facilities would also boost transport sector in the state as it will facilitate 24 hours business activities in the area, insisting that the Concrete Pedestrian Jetty Lounge would be used by passengers who will board the speed boats to their destinations.
The EDSOGPADEC boss also said that the facilities would also affect the physically challenged positively as there is a part on the walkway of the Jetty designed for the physically challenged and that there would be 24hrs electricity supply to boost business frontiers.
Osifo thanked Gov. Obaseki for giving his board the opportunity to discharge its responsibilities to the development of the state.
Present in the inspection tour include, Mrs Omosede Obamwonyi, rep. Ovia N/East,Dudu Williams, rep. Ikpoba Okha, Barr. Charles Aideyan, Rep. Orhionmwon, Princess Barr. (Mrs.) Ikuoyemwen Aimiuwu-Ewuare, rep. Edo South and Hon. Imoudabge Rep. Edo North on the Board, others are, Mr. James Ufumwen, Permanent Secretary/Secretary of the board and Mrs. Anigba Sophia, Head, Public Relations and Media.
