The Wife of the Inspector General of Police, Hajia Hajara Usman Baba Alkali has presented an award of Excellence to a former Vice Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council Lady Ogiefa Uwa Belinda in recognition as a refined female politician.
Making the presentation on behalf of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) in Benin City, Hajia Usman Baba Alkali, the 21st National President of POWA, who was on a 3-day advancement programme on welfare, Education and Health care delivery in the state urge women to continue to contribute to the development of Nigeria.
In her response, Lady Belinda, the Vice-Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Etete division said she has dedicated the award to the wife of the Governor of Edo State.
According to her, “the Police are our brother, our husband and everything to us. Without them we are nowhere, we cannot sleep with our eyes closed, that is why we always appreciate them and pray for them and their wives because it is not easy for a wife to be at home and the husband is in the battle field.
“They need our prayers. Before you go to bed, pray for yourself and your family and remember the police because without them you cannot sleep and walk freely. I Appreciate the entire army officers wife, Road safety wives, and the entire security outfit in Nigeria, Edo State, everywhere.
She disclosed that she had to invite her sister from the Diaspora who has been supporting the security outfit from the United States of America, Mrs. Katty Salami, adding that, “as I speak, they are contributing to the welfare of security outfit in Edo State; she is one of them, the Concerned Edo Initiative in Diaspora.
“Very soon, we are going to present what they have for us so that our police and security outfit will work effectively. When they are empowered and given the necessary tools they will do more than we expect them to do.
“I thank the wife of the IGP for coming to Edo State which is the heart beat of the nation. When the heart stops breathing, what happens to rest part of the body? If we get it right here, the whole country will be very good.
“We want you to be coming to Edo very often and by the grace of God I will personally host you because you have a good heart and to our mummy, the first lady of the state, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, I dedicate this award.
“She is the mother of the state, I love her so much and she loves the women in general. I will tell her what happened here today,” she added.
