Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has clarified that the battle of Value Added Tax (VAT) with Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) is not targeted at the President or State in Nigeria, it is about the system.
The Governor disclosed this in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
According to Wike, In June N15.1 billion was generated in Rivers State but only N4.7 billion was given to Rivers State.
Wike stressed further that Lagos generated N46.6 billion but was given N9.3 billion.
However, Kano generated N2.8 billion and got their N2.8 billion back.
He said it is injustice in the country and everyone must fight against it. He noted that he won’t be a Governor forever, that it wasn’t about him but the system.
He advocated for the right thing to be done.
