North-East Govs Meet Over Covid-19 Vaccines

Governors of the six states in the North East sub region alongside officials of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 and the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency met yesterday in Yola to assess the acceptability or otherwise of the vaccination of the pandemic in the region.

Addressing to stakeholders at the meeting, Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, said the committee decided to organise the zonal town hall meeting across the country to officially discuss the impact of the vaccination.

Boss Mustapha, who was represented by the Minister of State Environment, Alhaji Isah Abubakar, urged stakeholders to mobilise their communities to key into the COVOD-19 Vaccination exercise, noting that scientific experts had confirmed that the vaccine was safe.

He assumed that the Federal Government was committed to providing all necessary support to state and local governments towards safeguarding the safety and health of its citizens.

In his remarks, Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire encouraged Nigerians to accept the vaccination to keep to the country safe against the backdrop of what was happening globally, especially in India and Brazil.

Ehanire assured that the Federal government has taken adequate measures in addressing the pandemic, stressing that it is not only for self protection to accept the vaccination, but a civic responsibility to assist in curtailing spread of the pandemic in the society.
