FCT Budget to Run Concurrently – Senate

The Chairman Senate Committee on  Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Senator Abubakar Kyari said both the National and Statutory Budget proposals for 2022 for the Federal Capital Territory Administration would be approved before the end of the year to enable it to run concurrently for effective completion of old projects.
Senator Kyari made this known during the budget defense with the Minister of FCTA, Mallam Muhammadu Musa Bello in Abuja.
According to Senator Kyari,  the budget will be signed and passed before the Christmas break when the National Assembly resumes from its recess on the 24th of November, 2020. ” We are taking this step because of the resolution reached by the National Assembly to return the nation’s budget cycle to January to December”, he said .
The Senator  disclosed that the government is not embarking on new projects but rather old ones  but however decried of a complete deficit of  satellite towns development.
Earlier, the Minister FCTA, Mallam Muhammadu Musa Bello said the twenty twenty budget performance was hampered by covid-19 pandemic but the administration achieved about forty percent implementation.
Mallam Musa Bello further explained that the problem further became worse  when the executive reviewed the MDAs budget proposals downwards, including FCTA, bringing its National budget estimate from over one hundred and nine billion naira to about fourth billion naira.
The Minister disclosed that in twenty twenty one, FCTA would concentrate more on the completion of old projects, particularly the Millennium Tour located in the city center.
