Nigeria @ 60: low-key celebration in Benin

Nigeria 60th Independence anniversary celebration was low-key Benin City on October 1st, 2020
Our Reporter who went around Benin City, including the outskirts said the hustling and burbling that usually accompany Independence anniversary celebration were conspicuously absent.
According to him, many recreation centers in the metropolis witnessed normal activities, against the usual activities in occasions like Independence day and other festivities.
Some respondents who spoke on the celebration  blamed the trend on COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn.
A parent who gave his name as Deacon Joe Ugiagbe said he would not expose his children to the COVID-19 pandemic, hence going to recreation center was a taboo.
He expressed disappointment that some parents, in the name of making their children happy still exposed them to the dangers of COVID-19.
