TWO UNARMED SECURITY MEN SHOT DEAD BY HOODLUMS IN OKOMU OIL PALM COMPANY PLC. OKOMU ANNOUNCES N3M NAIRA REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE CONVICTION OF THE MURDERERS

The Managing Director, Okomu Oil Palm Plc. Dr Graham Hefer has pledged a three million Naira(N3,000,000) reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thugs who killed two unarmed security personnel attached to the company in what can only be
described as a cold blooded assassination.
Dr Hefer made the pledge while commiserating with surviving personnel of the security firm who were protesting the killing of their colleagues by the criminals who came to steal palm fruit and rubber cup lumps from the company. The Okomu MD said the death of the security
personnel was a big loss to the company and urged the protesters to volunteer useful information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly act.Whilst commiserating with the protesters, he stated that management of Okomu would work together with their company
and the security agencies until those responsible for the gruesome act were apprehended and brought to book. Earlier, a spokesperson for the protesters said they were on a peaceful protest to
know the steps taken so far by the management of their company to capture the perpetrators.
They also called on the police and security agencies to bring the criminals to book and for the Government to restore law and order in the riverine areas around the Okomu River where these
hoodlums hide out amongst the creeks and in the various communities by bringing the army in to flush out these miscreants.
Okomu has suffered from consistent attacks by hoodlums in the past who steal their products off the plantation and the security regularly come under attack from them with cutlasses and double
barrel shotguns, the likes of which claimed the lives of the two brave security personnel this
week.
As at the time of this report normalcy had returned to the plantation following the efforts by management of the Security Company and men of the Nigerian Police and Nigerian Army, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the mortuary and the next of kin of the deceases have been informed by the Security Company.
